Power Outage: 9:30pm Oct. 26th (Back online)
The Hala, Ysgard and Tairis servers are offline due to a power outage that occurred at approximately 9:30pm EST and is at this time ongoing. I kept them up on battery power for a bit, hoping the power would come back, but just to make the decision to shut them down to prevent data loss. I will bring...

Re: Planned Downtime 9-19-2016
Tested and a player has successfully logged in.
The new DSL is testing at around 30 megabit down and 4 megabit up. A far cry from the 6 megabit down and 768 kilobit up.

The work is complete, I am just looking for someone to help me verify that they can access the servers.

Planned Downtime 9-19-2016
Apologies for the late notice. AT&T is coming out to change us over from the older DSL system to the newer one. That internet connection will be faster and cost us less once the install fee is paid off. I don't expect the connection to be down past noon, but I will update this notice later if th...

Re: What I do here, and why I do it. (Donation info)
Another bump and reminder that keeping the servers running does incur a monthly cost to me. Even if just 10 players donated $5, it would more than offset the costs incurred by Hala alone based on the estimates in the original post.

Re: What I do here, and why I do it. (Donation info)
I really hate doing this. I feel like I'm begging. But I'm currently feeling the need to remind the community that the servers do cost money to keep going. Its not much, and I don't generally need any help. But any little bit can be the difference between eating ramen for a week or real food dependi...

Servers Down? Try these:
I've noticed over the years that a few of you consistently have troubles connecting any time there is an IP or DNS change even when others can connect. If you know the servers are up, but can't seem to connect, you should flush your DNS cache and then reboot. Instructions for flushing your DNS cache...

Re: Ysgard down
They should be working as normal now. The DNS redirects that were changed temporarily are now restored. While they should have worked for everyone since about 5pm EST yesterday, if they still weren't for you, try again.

Re: Ysgard down
This should have been working since around 5pm EST. I can't test directly from within the network, so I'll need a report from a player/DM.

Server Downtime: Fan Upgrade
Servers will be down for a short time for a fan upgrade. Sorry for not scheduling it ahead of time, but I'm into the rack right now and its the best time to do it.
They should be back up within the hour. I'll post again when they are.

Hey guys, Carman just lost her job. It's going to be tight for a few weeks. If you've been wondering when, or waiting to donate. It would help us keep the bills paid through it. If you want a break down of what the servers cost, check the original post.

Back-End Updates: Domain name
DynDNS has upped their price without notice from $25 to $40. This has overdrawn our account and caused me to seek out alternative services. One has been found and I have already switched over all domains related to game server access to this new service. If you have been using the travellers.dnsalia...

Database Move
My host informed me that our database server will be migrated to new hardware today. While this should be seamless, there's a chance that new posts made today may not be retained. There is also a chance of a short 5 to 10 minute downtime. Note: This does not affect the game servers in anyway. Only o...

How is the updated forum behaving?
Now that it has had some time to settle in: How are the updated forums doing? Everything working as expected? Any problems? Any new friends complaining they can't figure out the Q&A during account registration? Any style, smilies, stock avatar requests from https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/sty...

Re: What I do here, and why I do it. (Donation info)
Worked on the donate page a little bit. Its full of a bunch of placeholder text for now and I would like to add more options to contribute, tip, or gift as thanks. Right now, it contains the PayPal link that we've always had, and three of my Amazon wishlists. I'm torn on adding info about sending mo...

Re: Scheduled Website Downtime: Completed
Welcome to phpBB 3.1 I have defaulted everyone to the subsilver2 style that was updated to work with phpBB 3.1. However, that style does not utilize some of the features possible in 3.1. If you would like to change to one of the two installed prosilver styles, you may do so in the User Control Panel.

Re: Upgrade to phpBB3.1
I am back at working on the site today, using my wife's keyboard while she's at work. Sorting out the upgrade to phpBB3.1 over on the development copy of the site. If its successful, I may schedule some downtime tomorrow to make the changes live.

Upgrade to phpBB3.1 Progress
As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I am moving us to phpBB3.1 before any further custom work to the forum side of the site. When I moved us to phpBB3.0, it wasn't clear that it was soon to be sunsetted and that no new mods would be approved by the phpBB team. That doesn't mean new mods for 3.0 wer...

Re: Website Updated to phpBB3! Finally!
Search appears truly fixed now. Sorry about it being broken for a while. I had initiated a search index rebuild a while back and just assumed it worked without testing it. CD alerted me and asked if its okay to rebuild it. Again, it must've failed to work. It is now set back up properly.
