Bug?:Language System

Post by Xanthalas »

Type of Bug/Exploit: Language
Area of Bug Exploit (be as specific as possible) Anywhere
NPCs involved (Be as specific as possible) None
Timestamp on when it happened: always
Frequency of occurance.: repeatable.

Elven and Drow are using the same language set.

IE: Drow and Elven languages, both say the same "gibberish"

I checked other languages, and they worked fine.

Not sure if the translation comes across though.

Personally, I have decided not to use the drow lang, just the sign. Considering our city has several spots that use the actual drow lang it doesnt make any sense to use the gibberish. The sign is rockin' though :)

It's not so much a bug - it's how SIMTools is coded.

In a Dictionary it is wrote:bug programming
An unwanted and unintended property of a program or piece of hardware, especially one that causes it to malfunction.
I do not consider Elves being potentially able to read Drow, a feature.

If the Sign works differently, I'll use that for now, but considering the IC repercussions of such usage, and the realism for it. I'd simply like to know whether or not, I can ignore the 'bug.' If it is only visual, i.e. if you can only see the parallel in the output ('Gibberish' as Droke put it.) Or is their another aspect of this 'bug?' If it is actually functioning improperly. It may not be alone in it's existence.

drow will only translate to another person who knows drow. It will not translate to a person who knows Elven. Just as Elven will not translate to someone who knows drow but not elven.
