Favorite Anime

Post by Lord Droke »

Last week (I think) favorite movies was a topic. I was wondering how many of us are animation fans. I've been getting discs from Netflix lately, I currently have a huge que of nothing but Anime. Having worked at a DVD store all those years I am familiar with many titles, however I still have yet to see many of them, hence the long list on Netflix. So I figured lets start a favorite Anime thread in hopes that I can get some idea's on what is good and what is not. Of course I'll start off....

Series:
I would have to say Berserk followed closely by Gantz

Movies:
Ghost in the Shell ( The original ), Ninja Scroll, and the original Vampire Hunter D.

Azumanga Daioh - it had some excellent humor, and the dub was good with it as well.

Vampire Hunter D is quite nice.

I like
Helsing
Cowboy Bebop (series more than movie)
Trigun
Afro Samurai
Battle Angel Alita (movie)
Aeon Flux
Grovel puts the P in swimming pool.
Small in stature, large in power, narrow of focus and wide of vision

Wow And no one has mentioned either of my favorites yet. The best anime ever would be Beserk (BEST ANIME OF ALL TIME IMO) followed by Gantz. Otherwise I have alot of favorites..

Both the Vampire Hunter D's were cool
Any Robotech of course is a must.
Akira
Ninja Scroll
Crying Freeman
Samurai X or Ryouni Kenshin
Street Fighter Alpha (this one really surprised me as I was expecting some cheesy street fighter anime and it was actually a great one)
Karas
Ghost in a shell

......... Well since I have been watching anime for over 20years and me and Vilmi have pretty much banned anything else from going on our tv I could keep going but that is enough I guess. One last thing though. If you like anime and you haven't seen Beserk it is a must see. Seriously one of the best out there.

Ok, yes Grave of the Firefiles is depressing as hell. It was good mind you but depressing.

*is still mad at SciFi channel for having done Earthsea*
