Poll: Personality Test/Class Correlation

Post by VIpAcT »

Guess who.

Hello. Hala.

Was thinking of Hala the other day... and all the roleplaying goodness that it has. And had another thought... a budding theory.

I was doing something called the Jung/Myer-briggs personality test the other day, which is interesting in how they classify personalities... and thought how interesting it would be if personality type dictated with some probability what sort of character class they would play as their main character.

It is a rather short test and fun in learning the results so I thought I'd post it.

The test takes about 10 minutes to do. It is here...

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

Below write your personality type followed by what the class(es) of your main character is/are. Do the personality test for yourself and not as your character. And as for the classes, try putting down what you roleplay... for those class confused characters.. er, I mean, creative builds.

Like....

ISTJ with the S being a 1.
Character is a cleric of god of strategy so not stretched myself to have a thinky character when a "T" for thinky in the test for me.
And looking at the type description a famous ISTJ would be Eeyore.

EDIT: Something like
Introversion-88 Sensing-1 Thinking-84 Judging-22

Hi Vip!!!

Personality type: INFJ
Main Char - Bard :P

I look above at your acronym title thingies and don't get it... here's my numbers/description... you should put yours so it makes sense! Very accurate description, imo, for me. What do you all think about your descriptions?

Introvert 78
Intuitive 25
Feeling 25
Judgement 33

I clicked on "INFJ type description by J. Butt and M.M. Heiss" for this:

Beneath the quiet exterior, INFJs hold deep convictions about the weightier matters of life. Those who are activists -- INFJs gravitate toward such a role -- are there for the cause, not for personal glory or political power.

INFJs are champions of the oppressed and downtrodden. They often are found in the wake of an emergency, rescuing those who are in acute distress. INFJs may fantasize about getting revenge on those who victimize the defenseless. The concept of 'poetic justice' is appealing to the INFJ.

"There's something rotten in Denmark." Accurately suspicious about others' motives, INFJs are not easily led. These are the people that you can rarely fool any of the time. Though affable and sympathetic to most, INFJs are selective about their friends. Such a friendship is a symbiotic bond that transcends mere words.

INFJs have a knack for fluency in language and facility in communication. In addition, nonverbal sensitivity enables the INFJ to know and be known by others intimately.

Writing, counseling, public service and even politics are areas where INFJs frequently find their niche.

I'm ISFJ (Introverted 33, Sensing 25, Feeling 50, Judging 44), however when I read the description that isn't me. Some stuff's right, some's wrong.

Gildan's a Ranger/Divine Champion (and INFJ; Introverted 11, Intuitive 12, Feeling 38, Judging 78 )

Lexy's a Psion/Rogue/Fighter (and ESFJ; Extraverted 89, Sensing 25, Feeling 88, Judging 11)

The descriptions for both of the fictional characters fit better for them than mine fits me. :)

Ooh, do I get to be the first E? >_>

ENFP, my characters are uh, wizard, rogue/sorcerer, sorcerer, sorcerer, rogue/bard, rogue, aaand sorcerer. I don't think any of them are ENFPs.

Mainly because I like magic and I'm generally too lazy to prepare spells. :D

Uhm... Interesting! Thanks Vipe!

I'm also an ISFJ, apparently.
Introverted 39, Sensing 50, Feeling 12, Judging 11.

My main is druid/rogue. Alt is druid. =)

I'm a Protector! o.O
The Keirsey description is mostly right, though some elements are a bit off; on the whole though, it fits! Same for the Butt/Heiss description.

Personality type: ENTJ
Character: Barbarian

ENTJ type description by D.Keirsey:

ENTJ - the Fieldmarshal

Hardly more than two percent of the total population, Fieldmarshals are bound to lead others, and from an early age they can be observed taking command of groups. In some cases, they simply find themselves in charge of groups, and are mystified as to how this happened. But the reason is that they have a strong natural urge to give structure and direction wherever they are - to harness people in the field and to direct them to achieve distant goals. They resemble Supervisors in their tendency to establish plans for a task, enterprise, or organization, but Fieldmarshals search more for policy and goals than for regulations and procedures.

Well, I know why Gak does what he does now!

You should give yourself more credit.

ISTJ-Inspector

The one word that best describes Inspectors is superdependable. Whether at home or at work, Inspectors are extraordinarily persevering and dutiful, particularly when it comes to keeping an eye on the people and products they are responsible for. In their quiet way, Inspectors see to it that rules are followed, laws are respected, and standards are upheld.

Queen Elizabeth II, Harry S. Truman, Warren Buffet, Queen Victoria, James K. Polk, and J.D. Rockefeller are examples of Inspector Guardians.

If you are curious: http://keirsey.com/handler.aspx?s=keirs ... =inspector

Me, I think it matches Jayem very well.

I'm an INTP (67, 75, 38, 44) who plays...really nothing that would fit as a class.

Ser is an ESFP (89, 12, 50, 67)
Eatuth is an INTJ (21, 75, 12, 67)

(Hehe, I got to introduce two new types! :D)
Wikipedia on INTP wrote:Architects are introspective, abstract, informative, and attentive...[Architects] are intensely curious and see the world as something to be understood. Their primary interest is to determine how things are structured, built, or configured.
Wikipedia on ESFP wrote:Performers are tactical entertainers, concrete in speech and utilitarian in action. In social situations, they are informative and expressive. The most fun-loving of all the types, Performers excel at delighting others with their artistry and humor. They continually seek stimulating experiences with those around them. Performers dislike being alone, which is seldom a problem because they naturally attract the attention of other people...They live in the moment and trust that tomorrow will take care of itself.
Wikipedia on INTJ wrote:Masterminds are introspective, pragmatic, directive, and attentive...Masterminds are natural but not eager leaders, stepping forward only when it becomes obvious to them that they are the best for the job. Strong-willed and very self-assured...though they are decisive, they are open to new evidence and new ideas...To Masterminds, what matters is getting it done...[h]owever, they may give little thought to the personal cost of getting there...
Somewhat hit or miss for all of them, but that's bound to happen when there're only sixteen possibilities.

Your Type is : ISTJ

Category (Strength of the preferences %)
  • Introverted (100)
    Sensing (88)
    Thinking (12)
    Judging (22)

Hmmmm ... do those numbers mean I'm not well balanced?

As to characters -

Avlis : Rogue/Sorceress (wanted to be a scout type - but found that those with half her levels had twice her abilities; probably mainly due to having good gear ... so switched focus ... now kinda sucks at two things)

Hala : Rogue (original intent was to be an evil being - but due to 'Elly Influences'; ended up as one of the good folks)

And how exactly does one make nice organized columns in forums like this?

By the way; what are all the categories?

Victoria DeVitale: thankya

ISFJ

Introverted 11, Sensing 1, Feeling 50, Judging 1.

Main character is Sorcerer/Rogue/SD.
Alts cover that and just about everything else!

Protector: http://keirsey.com/handler.aspx?s=keirs ... =protector

I think it's a hit and miss, but as Ser pointed out already, that makes sense with only 16 from which to choose.
If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance.

character : Ranger

Composers paint or sculpt, they dance or skate, they write melodies or make recipes-or whatever-simply because they must. They climb the mountain because it is there.
This ability to lose themselves in action accounts for the spectacular individual accomplishments of some Composers, and yet on their social side they show a kindness unmatched by all the other types. Composers are especially sensitive to the pain and suffering of others, and they sympathize freely with the sufferer. Some have a remarkable way with young children, almost as if there were a natural bond of sympathy and trust between them. A similar bond may be seen between some Composers and animals, even wild animals. Many Composers have an instinctive longing for the wilds, and nature seems to welcome them.

Was a Ranger/Paladin, now just a ranger.

The type description...wow

Guardian™ Portrait of the Protector (ISFJ)
We are lucky that Protectors make up as much as ten percent the population, because their primary interest is in the safety and security of those they care about - their family, their circle of friends, their students, their patients, their boss, their fellow-workers, or their employees. Protectors have an extraordinary sense of loyalty and responsibility in their makeup, and seem fulfilled in the degree they can shield others from the dirt and dangers of the world. Speculating and experimenting do not intrigue Protectors, who prefer to make do with time-honored and time-tested products and procedures rather than change to new. At work Protectors are seldom happy in situations where the rules are constantly changing, or where long-established ways of doing things are not respected. For their part, Protectors value tradition, both in the culture and in their family. Protectors believe deeply in the stability of social ranking conferred by birth, titles, offices, and credentials. And they cherish family history and enjoy caring for family property, from houses to heirlooms.

Wanting to be of service to others, Protectors find great satisfaction in assisting the downtrodden, and can deal with disability and neediness in others better than any other type. They are not as outgoing and talkative as the Provider Guardians [ESFJs], and their shyness is often misjudged as stiffness, even coldness, when in truth Protectors are warm-hearted and sympathetic, giving happily of themselves to those in need.
