For some reason I am unable to connect to any IRC server currently. I've no idea what's causing the problem and it's getting highly frustrating. I'm pretty certain it is not firewall/virus checker problems but still investingating.

I'm in the same boat. I can occasionally connect, but otherwise connection refused.

Shani's player had a lot of problems with IRC for a few months. I'm not sure how she sorted it but you could ask? Good luck!

Xanth helped me sort it. connecting to the frws server worked eventually.

Try using Different "Servers" They all will take you to the Stratics chat network.

Generally I've had problems with IRC.STRATICS.COM (Which is actually a server that routes you randomly.) and glowfish.

Usually what happens is you'll get a 10061 error, or a "Connection Refused"

Easy way to tell is to click the "Java Stratics" client.

If that connects you to Stratics-IRC fine. then you probably just need to switch the servers.

If you can't even connect with the Java Client, that may be indicating other issues.

I used to have trouble with connection to Stratics using a specific server. That was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when. But then I set it to connect to a random server and I've never had other problems since.

Of course that's for those who use mIRC. Not sure random servers work on other platforms. =/
