On Guild Creation

Post by Arkon »

Hala Guilds

Player controlled guilds need to follow these rules if they would like to create a guild that has a DM sponsor. Guilds do not need DM sponsors to exist. You are more than welcome to create a guild on your own but DM sponsored guilds have access to special privileges.

Guidelines

1. A guild must at the very least alignment restrictions and possibly class and other restrictions as well.

Without restrictions a guild is little more than a social club that everyone joins just for the free items. There should always be some tension RP'ed between alignments, and although in rare cases a guild open to all alignments might work out, there will most often be too much fighting within the guild for anything productive to be accomplished.

2. A guild must have a clear purpose or goal.

Once again, without a purpose it is a social club. From experience we know that guilds that don't have something to do die quickly.

3. Guilds should have leaders that are in good standing and trusted by the team. If a group REALLY wants a guild but cant find a leader, they can choose to be lead by an NPC if a DM is willing to sponsor them.

By "in good standing" we mean you must be known to be generally honest and rule abiding.

4. A guild must have a serious group of interested players. Since Hala is a small server, 5 or more players to start with should be sufficient.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want a DM sponsored guild, meet with you prospective members. Outline your purpose and the guilds rules (restrictions). Make a list of members and choose a guild leader(s). If you are requiring dues or fees, decide on how much and how often. Send all of this information to the Hala Team forum account.

Privileges
If your guild is approved and a DM chooses to sponsor it, you have the right to:

1. a DM (surprise!) who will answer ooc questions and possibly run guild events.

2. Guild items.

3. A private discussion forum.

4. Build a Guild house. Guild houses must be payed for, but guilds are allowed some things that are not available in regular player housing.

This post applies to anyone who runs a team-approved player-run guild.

Each guild may have the following items with the following guidelines upon request:

1) Leader item

This item will be used to induct people in the guild, promote them, and kick them out at will. It will also be used to give the members their proper guild tokens. (see below)

The leader item may be any sort of item useable by a player. It MUST have a tag and resref that starts with "SI_" for the tag and "si_" for the resref. You can name it whatever you like for your guild.
When submitted, these items will have a conversation attached to them that will allow you to do your guild functions. We have a conversation template that we are already using so please do not provide your own.

The item may have additonal powers that the leader can use in combat, but the value of the item may not exceed 5000 gp. Any power that can be added to that item without exceeding 5000 gp in value may be added. The value of the item is included in this total, so if you use full plate as your item (worth 1500 gp), you now can only put 3500 gp worth of powers on it.

2) Guild token

This is the item that all guild members carry as a symbol of their membership.

These items should not have any powers, or be worth at MOST 1000 gp. They should be very minimal, but carry some sort of guild prestige. Every guild member will get one of these, and quests will be built around them if a guild quest is ever made.

3) Rank tokens (optional)

Some guilds may want to have ranks. Someone who is 2nd in command of the guild may have a different item than the one who is in 3rd command, or the one who is just an initiate.

Each rank may have its own item. These items can have powers, but their value must NEVER exceed 2000 gp. Different ranks can get different items. When you promote someone to the next rank with your leader item, they get their new rank token if appropriate.

A guild can have as many ranks as is reasonable.
