Crashing on Entry
Decription: The game is continuously crashing over and over when I try to log in with Elrien. Logging in with an alternate character for testing works normally.
The game crashed while I was in "Sea Caves, Deep" at about the third spawn or so. After that I was unable to log back in after repeated attempts. The Area loading screen will progess to about 80-95% done (at various retries) before crashing out of NWN.
Time: 6/19/06 9:01 PM MST (11:01 PM EST)
Advice?

I had somthing very simular happen to one of my characters. I crashed portling to Mithro and kept crashing every time i tried logging in after that with that character. It was not the cave hak because i dont use it.
It needed a server reset to cure the problem.

A quote from a mage, without my magic I am just an Elf in a bathrobe.
If you have the cave ceilings override, it's broke. Just delete it. There is a fixed version somewhere, but I don't use it so I haven't bothered much with it.
As far as other issues, sometimes it's a simple as the server needing a reboot, sometimes it's a corrupted hak.
If you find yourself crashing out consistantly upon login, I recommend redownloading the hak for that area. (IE if it's a Mirador tileset area, redownload/reinstall the mirador hak)
That usually fixes these types of issues.

If you're crashing when you log in on a cave area, rename your override folder and make a new, empty one, then try again. If it works after that, you have an issue with one of your overrides.
A list of overrides we endorse and will not cause you any problems with Hala, guaranteed, can be found here: http://www.ysgardhala.org/viewtopic.php?t=1752
Anything else that isn't on that list could possibly cause you problems, particularly ones which change tileset appearances (such as the cave roof override). We don't endorse or suggest any of those =).

The ONLY overrides I have are the ones you listed Dune =p as far as cave Ceilings, I never bothered looking into that one.
I will, however, try renaming my override folder as you suggested Arkon and get back to everyone on the results.
Sorry for the delay in response, I've had a busy week... 2 hours of sleep last night felt like a blessing.. =(

This would mean that all your haks work fine. I bet Elrien has a corrupt .bicElrien Tyln wrote:Decription: The game is continuously crashing over and over when I try to log in with Elrien. Logging in with an alternate character for testing works normally.

I doubt I could get a level 1 wizard with 4 hp that far down into the sea caves =p in fact the crabs outside would probably have me for lunch.
However, it seems the problem is fixed, whatever it was, I was able to log in normally today. Thanks to whoever waved their wand and spoke the incantation o.o;
