Job Break
I want nothing more than to get on Hala and play for hours everyday. It's fun and even somewhat social. And hopefully, I'll be able to do just that in the future.
But for now, I seriously need a job. And the temptation to get on Hala is just too great in the morning. I will wake up, log in, and then six hours will have passed before I know it. So, I'm gonna go ahead and take a break. I will not be logging in during the day any days except Tuesdays and possibly Thursdays until I get a job. Evenings and weekends are another matter, and will be dependent on my productivity during the weekdays. However, I probably won't be on until pretty late if at all. Also, my wife is home during those times, so it's harder to get carried away. I will probably still play some after my wife goes to bed, but not for very long.
What this boils down to is that you will not be seeing Furin or Amy very much anymore, at least until I get a job. Hopefully, that will be this week, and my absence will not be noticed very much at all.
Why am I telling you all this? Because I don't want to get away with cheating on this. If you see me on during the day on a weekday, call me out on it. RL is more important than this game. *beats head*
Okay, time to try and fill out an application online. Wish me luck.

Yeah .. I hope you very much better luck at finding a job than I had.
I was unemployed for only 1 1/2 years ....
(although that did mean I ended up with lots of late nights on NWN ... LOTS of them ...)

Much good vibes to getting a job!! We will see you more when you can!:D
(p.s. as someone who has spent a great deal of time over the last month reading resumes and conducting interviews, here are some tips:
1) Don't list "I want a job" as your "objective."
2) Don't' show up to an interview with a hangover, dirty, or disorganized to talk about how you hate messes and are the most organized person on the planet.
3) Don't start the interview off with "what benefits are you going to give me?" before you even say hello.
4) Don't say you have a solid employment history when your resume shows the longest you have held down a job is 3 months.
5) Do know at least a little bit about the company you are applying to. Tailor what you are looking for with what the need is when you form your objective and cover letter. A little effort here will pay off big time!
6) Do show some interest in the company!
7) DO write a cover letter! Make it short and interesting!
8 ) Do include references! It makes the call back process much easier. AND you have no idea if you are tied with someone every other way, but they didn't include references, so you actually have a little leg up.
9 ) SEND A THANK YOU NOTE after your interview. It doesn't have to be long, just a quick "thank you for your time, I am looking forward to speaking with you again soon." HAND WRITE IT. You have no idea how impressive that really is to an HR person.
10 ) SPELL/GRAMMAR CHECK! SPELL/GRAMMAR CHECK! SPELL/GRAMMAR CHECK!
There you go.. ten tips from someone who has been trying to decide whether to laugh or cry over a lot of the resumes I have read.

I've been looking for something permanent or for my temp agency to find me another contract. *sigh* With the current situation of most companies, not sure what is out there anymore.
Send a few good karma points my way if possible.

The most frustrating thing about the whole process is that I have a bachelor's degree and I've lived abroad and have all sorts of debt to prove it... and I'm applying at places like CVS and Subway. No, wait, the worst part is that I won't get hired by most of these places. *sigh*
Got two apps done today, and one last night after I posted. I call that a good start, so I'm gonna jump on for an hour til my wife gets home.

Well, I'm in Vegas, so I'm also applying with all the casinos. The thing is, I have to work swing shift, cuz I take care of my daughter until 4 or 5pm. I'd love to work a full-time 9-5 kind of job, but I am very reluctant to put my daughter in day care....
My wife has a job as a teacher. What I'm trying to do is get some supplemental income by working in the evening. If the fact that I'm overqualified for most of these jobs works against me, then I'm screwed...
No, I'm not screwed. Bad attitude. The casino jobs have more potential, cuz they are evening without being beneath me.... And there are thousands of jobs at the casinos. *thinks positive*
