I am pondering expanding on Morgan's cave with a guest wing/what ever. Making some room for friends and possible NPCs to stay etc. Nothing to serious at this stage, just thinking. Is anyone interested in helping out with the actual making of the stuff?
Morgan is looking to eventually dump a vast amount of gold on this, so that might be fun for someone.
I'm still a bit up in the air about it.

So, in general, is it better to have one large area which is divided up to emulate different floors and buildings, or to have separate areas? I am wanting to add more rooms to Morgans lair and wonder if it is better to have a new area for them, or to make the current two areas bigger and fit them inside that.

That's not really an easy question. It really depends on what you want to do and how much you have packed into that one area.
The only real limitation is you need to plan on using at least one area for every tileset you want to use. So, if you have outside, inside, cave; that will be your three different areas.
You will also need to consider how many placeables will be packed into the area. Lots of placeables means more load time and more lag. So, if you are going heavy on placeables its often better to make 2 smaller areas than one big area.
If placeables aren't a concern, then consider putting different buildings and different floors all in the same area and using doors to jump from one part of the building to another. That gets rid of load screens and shortens travel time from one place to another.
The way I have my house set up, it uses 2 areas, an exterior and an interior. The interior is 6x6 tiles and represents 2 buildings with a total of 5 levels and 6 individual areas. The final effect is that it looks and feels like a mage tower, but it actually takes up very little space.
I hope that helps?

It helps a lot thanks. Someone else is doing the actual work for me (many thanks). I was just wondering in general.

I have made quite a bit of progress with my new housing additions, but am at a stage now where it is getting tricky. Is anyone who is more familiar with the toolset willing to finish it off for me? This is what I think is left to do:
Dress the rooms with placeables
Add some lighting
Create a locked portal between two rooms
Add some P-chests.
Check for things like consistant tags and scripts I should have removed.
I think I will be able to get the first two right eventually, but the last three will be a problem for me.
