Yup, Nope, depends.

Unless you have a contract with your employer specifically stating the terms of how employment will be terminated, you can be fired any time. In fact, I've seen it stated on almost every application I've ever filled out that the employer has the right to terminate employment at any time for any reason.

However, most companies won't do it that way. When word gets around thats how they treat their employees, then they have a difficult time hireing.

Odin- sorry to hear what happened. I feel for ya. The company my husband works for just got bought out and is being shut down. We'll be in the same boat in a couple of weeks.
