Druidic Cant

Hi hi!

Just a quick question here about the Druidic Cant.

We know that the "magic" language can't be used conversationally.

The Druidic Cant, however, can (I assume) as Druids use it to share knowledge and such. And they can't teach the Cant to a non-Druid, or they face losing their powers.

I'm wondering though if the Cant can be written?

RL history-wise, I'd assume not, as Druids tended to not write anything down, but rather pass their knowledge down verbally to the new Druids. But what about in an NWN/Hala context?

There is evidence that Druids were some of the few who were able to read and write; and that there may have been Druidic alphabet. Of course, writing then wasn't the same as we think of it today. Think Runes, petroglyphs, trail markings, all of which could translate well into Druidic cant.

Ah yeah... Celtic Europe used ogham as writing...
So I suppose one Druid could use the Cant in written communications to another Druid. =)

There's several rulebooks and universes that have variations of a written language seemingly influenced by either Gaelic, Celtic, Latin and Ancient languages. I've also seen situations where the Tongue spoken by one Druidic circle can differ either greatly or slightly from another circle.

I've always thought Ogham to be the writing system used by druids.
