In terms of how it should be used. Well it's generally not looked highly upon in CvC, and some DM's prefer it not used in their events. Other than that, nothing really that I can think of.

I thought about taking it with morgan, but it takes a bit ofthe fun out of delivering a big crit when just any old crit will drop a foe.

lmao, i have to agree here kinda... i was playing on a highmagic-highlevel-highXP server for abit a Barbarian/RDD, after taking dev crit, how much critical damage or oftens you do, lost any meaning.

There's no restriction in that it can be taken, unlike on quite a lot of hack/slash servers. However, don't expect people (including DMs) to like you if you go around slaughtering everything with dc50 dev crits =).

unless you dont mind it used in your events,I cant think of any other dm that does want it in their events.
I've seen people with it,and seen them get shunned from any/all events...so unless you plan him to be a loner dont take it.

The main problem with it is that once you take it, you cant turn it off. You can always not cast harm or some other nast spell, you can always not spam knock downs with sneak attacks but dev crit is with you every strike.

Unless you cripple yourself by using a different weapon

Yes harm is almost as deadly but you can turn it off and there is a defence against it. And even the best spellcaster would have a maximum of 8 harms and few would have that.

If you are facing an opponent who has it. Even if the save required for devlasting critical is not that high they have 4 maybe 5 attacks a round and sooner or later you are going to fail a save then you are dead.

There is no defence against it and they have unlimited attempts to hit you with it.

devesting critical replaced something that was much nicer as far instant kills from damage... for some time it was so that when a character dealed 50+ hp damage in melee, one had to make a fort save DC 15 or die.

bleh.. dev crit is a undead horse it seems heh

ahh god old death from masive damage, nasty rule used by dms who want to piss off their players and by players who score a lucky crit

Short and sweet of it.

Dev Crit. Take it if you want it, but don't be suprised if a DM asks you to use a weapon other than your primary if you are in one of their events.
