Chat Line Commands
The chat line is activated by pressing ENTER or left clicking on the chat line itself. There are chat commands that can be used in the text chat line. Just prefix your line of chat with one of the following chat commands to override your default:
/p = party
/s = shout
/t [character] = tell character
/tp [player] = tell player
/tk = talk
/w = whisper
Note to Mac users: Apparently, the chat mode pop up menu (activated by clicking on "Talk:" to the left of the chat line) is not working correctly in the Mac version of the game. Mac users are stuck in Talk mode, unless they use the above prefixes on each line of chat that they type. This is a known and reported bug that will hopefully be corrected soon.

Custom Text Macros
It is also possible to create custom text macros in the Quickbar cells. These are great for creating common chat phrases for a particular character. To assign a text macro to the Quickbar, follow these steps:
Right click on an empty Quickbar cell to bring up the radial menu.
Left click on the "Custom Text Macro" option at 12:00 on the radial menu.
Create a "Label" for your macro (this is the title that will be displayed in the Quickbar cell).
Next, type in the command that is to be executed when this macro is activated. Keep in mind that "shout" is the default mode for a chat macro unless one of the above mentioned chat commands is used.

Unlocking the Camera
There was an undocumented "unlock camera" feature added to the game with the 1.28 patch (please note that this feature will not work with any pre-1.28 version of NWN). This feature allows the player to zoom the camera view either closer or further away. It also allows the player to further increase or decrease the camera angle from a hip-level view to a straight down, bird's eye view. To enable the unlock camera feature enter the following line under the Control Options section of your nwnplayer.ini file:
Unlockcamera=1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Logging the Game Chat
There is also an undocumented built-in chat logging feature that will work with any version of the game. With this feature enabled, all player chat is automatically logged into a file called nwclientlog1.txt in the logs folder within the Neverwinter Nights folder. This file is overwritten each time the game is started, so in order to save or archive the chat log from a game session the user must copy or move the chat log file to a safe location to prevent it from being overwritten the next time the game is started. Note that the game will only log the player chat, but not the server messages.
To enable this feature change the ClientChatLogging line found under the Game Options section of your nwnplayer.ini file from zero to one. The entry should match the line below in order for the chat logging to work:
ClientChatLogging=1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windowed Mode
NWN can be run in Windowed mode on both the Windows and the Mac versions. This allows players to switch between applications while running the game. To enable this feature the following two lines must appear under the Display Options section of your nwn.ini file. Once these lines are in place, the user may switch between Windowed and Full Screen modes on the fly by pressing ALT & ENTER (in Windows version) on the keyboard.
FullScreen=0
AllowWindowedMode=1

I am a Mac user, and I have never had an issue with this feature. It works fine for me and always has.
