Alright, I would have placed this in the druid forum except that I would like as many dms to see this as possible...
Druids: To my knowledge Druids are given their power through their love of nature. Nature grants Druids power so that they may better care for Nature.
I know this is not true in Avlis as druids are considered priests of their god, with an emphasis towards Nature. However, to my understanding on Hala, Druids are not granted powers by a god, but by Nature.
Sooo... could someone please say that I'm right here... or that I'm horribly mistaken here...

DM's can see all of the forums that players can and the obvious few more.ace4lyyfe wrote:Alright, I would have placed this in the druid forum except that I would like as many dms to see this as possible...
The best way to consider this as far as where the power comes from is to think of nature as a god in itself. This means that while nature can grant that power, it can also take it away if it's not deemed to be being used properly.ace4lyyfe wrote:Druids: To my knowledge Druids are given their power through their love of nature. In NWN, druids are required to have neutrality in at least one part of their alignment. This is no different on Hala. If a druid strays from that, then they can no longer advance in the class until they regain that neutrality. Any druid falling outside this, will also be watched closely by the team to ensure that no abuse of alignment altering scripted quests is taking place.
The team will strip druidic powers completely if the PC it not deemed to be playing the class as a servant of nature, but instead just for it's spells/abilities and this is exactly the same as it is for all other divine casting classes.
The odd comment or related boardpost, does not a servant of nature make.

I like that... so if I understand it right.. On Hala, a druid does not have to be following any particular neutral-aligned, nature-inclined god like, for example, Frey in order to obtain their druidic powers?Psye Shaar wrote:The best way to consider this as far as where the power comes from is to think of nature as a god in itself. Of course though, if they worship a god in particular, that god would need to be in line with the druid's philosophies (ie. linked to nature), I take it?
Like a druid would more readily mainly worship Frey, rather than Odin, on a daily basis.
But as in any polytheist religion, one can call on and pray to the god that is more appropriate to the situation.
Without "me", it's just "aweso".
So, as long as druids aren't going around hack n' burning forests... they still have their powers, correct?Psye Shaar wrote:DM's can see all of the forums that players can and the obvious few more.ace4lyyfe wrote:Alright, I would have placed this in the druid forum except that I would like as many dms to see this as possible...

Also, druids don't have to have a god in their diety field, correct?

Short answer: Noace4lyyfe wrote:So, as long as druids aren't going around hack n' burning forests... they still have their powers, correct?
Longer answer: Being a druid does not simply revolve around not damaging nature or occasionally threatening people that do. It's a way of life and a way of thinking that should be apparent wherever the druid is - including if they are in cities, away from 'pure' nature. If you want more information, then i'm sure plenty of people can point you towards some good sources or throw in a few ideas themselves.
On Hala, no - but:ace4lyyfe wrote:Also, druids don't have to have a god in their diety field, correct?
This doesn't simply mean that if you decide to multiclass, then the alignment aspect no longer matters.Psye Shaar wrote:In NWN, druids are required to have neutrality in at least one part of their alignment. This is looking increasingly similar in direction to that of the CvC thread a while ago where the questions are looking for excuses and ways around existing rules, rather than enquiries into information that could allow for better RP.

Basically, rule 1 applies - common sense is your friend

Cool!
That is a lot closer to what my view of a druid is. Thanks!
.... and it also explains why Jalya still has her druidic powers on Hala even if she worships O'Ma on Avlis, who grants her her powers there... and who, unless I'm mistaken, has no reach outside of Avlis.
I was wondering about that... if she shouldnt have some sort of dual worship in order to keep her powers on Hala... which would be borderline cheesy, IMHO (correct me if I'm wrong). Unless something happens IG and a particular god somehow favours her or something..... yay divine paperwork!
