Where is Lexy?

Lexy's in Ohio with me. We just got back from Indiana where we dropped off a horse to get trained to saddle and spent the night in a very cool house built in the 1830's and I met and fell in love with a gorgeous Friesian (horse). That is the good news.

The bad news is that when I got to Ohio where I was going to be spending two weeks at least taking care of my friend's menagerie and her aged dad with Alzheimer's while she had surgery to hopefully correct some major gut problems, she informed me that she had also just found out that morning that she has breast cancer.

We don't know yet what kind or how bad, but it does look as if more surgery is in the offing (gut surgery is scheduled for Monday, and the first breast surgery will probably be the following Thursday or Friday if she's doing well enough to handle it). Depending on how it all turns out, I may be up here much longer than 2 weeks.

Neither of us are freaking out about this (yet). I went through it already with my sister, and she's doing great after about 5 years as a unibreast. Many, many people survive and do fine. Hopefully Judy will be one of those people. Good vibes of whatever sort (religious or non) are welcomed.

I miss you guys, and I miss the game. I'll try to get in game when I can (evenings after 9 EST will be my best bet). I'm sorry to miss the plot stuff I'm involved in, and will check the forums and write and answer PMs.

A quick update:

Monday's gut surgery went well. It was decided that a mastectomy would be the wisest choice for the breast cancer, and that surgery will be tomorrow morning (Friday). Keep the good ju-ju going!

Good news! Surgery went well, biopsy results are in; no lymph node involvement which means the cancer had not spread, so the prognosis looks excellent! This is, of course, a huge relief. Judy gets out of the hospital wednesday; I'll likely stay up here at least a few more days after that, then run home to pay some bills and try to see about the frozen pipes in my kitchen, then come back if she'll need chemo and/or radiation. My glamorous life.

Did I mention I'm so relieved? Thanks, guys.

A quick update. I was only home for a few days when I got a call from Judy; she was back in the hospital with complications from the surgery, so I had to turn right around and go back up there. She's back home now and doing well, and I'll hopefully be back home again myself in a few days, but sadly we had to give up on our annual trip to Canada to run dogs as she's not strong enough yet. We are hoping to take the dogs for a spin tomorrow and the next day if weather permits, though, so it won't be a total loss sledding-wise. I miss the game and hope to be back in game and on forums soon; I have a lot of posting to do to catch up!

So, when I went to head home the van broke down. It has been towed to a repair place. I don't know when I'll get home at this rate. Sucks.

Oh, no! And I thought I had it bad. My back seized up on my and I've been flat on my back since Tuesday. However, I went to the doctor and he said I should sit up, so guess what I'll be doing since then.

Ah, well, Drive safely! And come home in one piece and don't be me!

Was gonna go home tomorrow, but Judy went back in the hospital today. I'll be here for a few more days at least, but at least I have better internet access now (not dial-up; yayy!), so i'll be around a bit more. In other (happier) news; might be puppies in 2 months; the necessary step has been taken.
