Has rage changed?

Talks that may or may not have anything to do with Hala or NWN

Has rage changed?

Post by Zombie »

I noticed that while raging rather than get a str and con bonus I got an attack and damage bonus and temp hit points.

Has rage been changed? If so, is this perminant?

It's changed to match (or at least be very close to) Avlis' version to get around the 12 cap on Ability scores, allowing you to get full use out of the rage.

Basically, you get the additional 2 damage and AB, but temporary hitpoints added for normal rage and 3AB, damage and extra hitpoints for Greater Rage. The increased duration from what would have been additional Constitution should also still apply.

It's a good thing :)

Its good if you dont use a two handed weapon. Does it grant a bonus to fort saves and stat/skill checks?

Should also get rid of comming out of rage with low hit points and dropping dead.... which in a way i kinda liked for Morgan......

I can see how getting round the stat max is fun. Will have to start hunting for some better gear

I'm not sure with the two handed weapon aspect. That's something to check. You still get the additional fort and will saves, yes.

AFAIK the additional hitpoints are a flat value added to your current HP (2/level for rage and 3/level for greater rage) meaning you could still drop dead if too close to death when coming out of rage. We can test that one for you too if you like

Yup... now Morgan can hit things even harder....

I coded up the changes, so I can maybe shed some additional light.

The bonus bludgeoning damage while raging is fixed at 2 for regular rage, 3 for greater rage, and 4 for mighty rage. If you're using a two-handed weapon, the bonus damage should be greater. If you're using an off-hand weapon, the bonus damage should be lower for that weapon. Unfortunately, while this is possible to code, it would be cumbersome at best, and the bonus damage would be added to the weapon itself (meaning if you switch weapons, you lose the bonus). To "balance" this, you might notice that you get the damage bonus even if you're using a ranged weapon, and the bonus damage cuts through all DR. Edit 3: Further testing reveals this bludgeoning damage can be absorbed.

Yes, you get the appropriate bonuses to your Fort and Will saves, as well as appropriate bonuses to your Concentration (Con-based) and Discipline (Str-based) skills.

With the HP being temporary HP, it is not possible to drop dead coming out of rage, as they come off first. So any drop in HP you see is due to the temp HP coming off. (Unless, by some fluke, you're allowed to enter rage while you have 0 or less HP.)

Edit: I should also point out a difference between this and Avlis. On Avlis, your bonus from raging increases at Barbarian 15 (+3 damage, to use as the baseline) AND at Barbarian 32 (+4 damage). Mighty Rage, however, gives the same bonuses (+4 damage). So the only reason to take Mighty Rage on Avlis is to get 3 additional rages. That doesn't happen here. The bonus from raging increases at Barbarian 15 ONLY (when you get Greater Rage). To get the +4 bump, you have to take Mighty Rage (and use a Mighty Rage... hmm... that's unlike PnP...).

Also, the save DC versus the on-hit property added to your weapon when Thundering Rage is used now scales according to your level (up to a maximium of 26, which is the highest Bioware allows for on-hit properties).

Edit 2: Just cleared this with Arkon. When you take Mighty Rage, ALL your rages will benefit. *scrambles to get it coded up ASAP*
