Just a reminder...

Post by silverdragonams »

This is just a little reminder that PC's can not remove notes posted by other PC's.
I'm not picking on anyone specific here. I've seen a few people attempt this recently and its usually ignored by both players and team. But, in order to prevent any ooc arguments between players I am giving you all a little nudge.
NWDuneAuron wrote:PCs cannot remove posts made by other PCs. Only an NPC, controlled by a DM, with a legitimate reason to do so may. If PCs could, it'd be abused horrifically.

If you want to get back at someone who's insulting you.. swords work.
We have this policy for two important reasons.

First, when you "emote" removing a post, but it doesn't actually get deleted its easy for other players to miss that it isn't supposed to be there and reply, which tends to cause a lot of IC confusion and OOC squabbling.

Second, we don't make a habit of deleting IC posts because its basic common courtesy not to. Some people put a lot of effort into what they write. Would YOU want something you took the time to write deleted simply because someone else emoted ripping it down?

So as Dune wrote in the quote above, if someone writes something that offends you, please deal with it IG, person to person rather than trying to remove the offending message.

A good question was asked privately, and deserves a public answer.

What about anonymous posters?

You can do one of 2 things.

1. You can politely ask the player if they would be willing to remove their post if you IC'ly rip it down. The are under no obligation to do so however.

2. You can attempt to research the origin of the post. Send a PM to the Hala Team account and a DM will work with you and the poster.

Fair warning to anonymous posters: you are taking an action in a public place. Disguise rules apply! Furthermore "popping in and out of shadows" or "walking around invisibly" tends to get noticed, even by NPCs. Finally, please log in if possible if you are posting. The more details you can give a DM about who was there, what an NPC may or may not have seen, what precautions you took to not be found out, the fewer assumptions that DM has to make. :)

Last, keep in mind, that the tavern boards are just that, notice boards located in a tavern. This is an NPC's private property. So, ripping something down and walking away is, in essence, vandalism.
