Hitching post horses

OK; there are these horses at hitching posts that one can rent to travel places quickly. I think it was Soleis that suggested to John to go to Heidabry for some work there.

John has never been to the village of Hiedabry. Must John first find the village and then be able to rent a horse to travel to a place he's been to before? Or can he just rent a horse and let the horse take him to his unknown destination?

The horses are very well trained. You can just rent one.
