Character description changer

Post by Zombie »

I am planning some changes to my character descriptions and wonder how the description changer works. As its limited to 3 times, I don’t want to try trial and error :D

If I type my new description onto word to spell check it and the copy/past into NWN, how do I insert blank lines into the description?

Am I limited to a description length of how ever many characters can fit in a single line for the NWN talk box? Or will the description changer “build” a description from multiple “talks”?

EXAMPLE:
Turk: Before you stands a strapping man with large arms.
Turk: He has bright eyes and greets you with a warm smile.

Would that generate a 2 line description of:
Before you stands a strapping man with large arms.
He has bright eyes and greets you with a warm smile.
Or a one line description of:
He has bright eyes and greets you with a warm smile.
How would I get a description of:
Before you stands a strapping man with large arms.
He has bright eyes and greets you with a warm smile.

If his left arm is visible you can see he has a tattoo of a wolfs head.
Grovel puts the P in swimming pool.
Small in stature, large in power, narrow of focus and wide of vision

Unfortunately, there is no way (That I know of) to handle things like text formatting and line spacing for this, which means you get to speak one line and everything shows up as a big block of text.

There is a limit to how many characters you can put in that line (I think I wrote it in the IG instructions, something like 250 characters.)

HOWEVER! I've noticed that you can exceed the limit by quite a bit the first time you speak after logging on. Weird, and I wont guarantee it will work for you, but it did for me.

You may be able to get around the lack of line spaces by looking at some one's description and counting how many characters make up a line, then include that many spaces, plus the number of spaces you need to finish off the previous line in your text. Again, no guarantee it will work.

You can experiment though. You can roll up test characters. Also, the 3x limit is on entering the area that the description changer is in. Once you are in, you can play with it all you like.
