Public Apology

Post by StoneKilla911 »

It has come to my attention that some people may have been offended for a post that I have made in the hala tavern forums regarding the widows supposedly trying to take over hala. This post is in no form true. I am not sure exactly how this all happened with being taken seriously. I just want to give you guys some background about myself.

I've known CoPaP for over a about a year now. I have never gotten to involved with the politics, forums, and DMing experiences. I know each and everyone of you guys work hard, sometimes day in and day out. I have spent most of my time in Rockhome where I have had very little experience from having DMs involved. Ive played on Avlis when times Rockhome is down. I love all the servers but I find Avlis to be way to large for me to get any kind of RPing experience. I have many friends who I enjoy playing with. Everyone has a different sense of RPing.

I just recently seriously injured my lower back and have been home on workmans comp. I've been, what you say, bored. I've never had this DM RPing experience until the war with Bastion. I realize now that may have not been the right thing or time to get noticed. Servers are clicky and I'm just trying to find my spot. A lot of the meaning behind message was referring to a lot of my friends having players stuck on Rockhome. My character is evil and I want to play her as a villain. It was just something to grab attention and let people know I'm ready to be a part of the Hala server. I've done a lot of reading of the forums and just thought it would liven things up. Well I guess you can say I stuck my foot in my mouth and Ill chew on it for a while. Sorry to offend anyone and by no means did I have meaning behind it. I play all kinds of characters and I love how each one is different. Please except my apology and I hope you guys dont hold anything against me.

I liked your post because it did add some flavor to the server, just make sure you clear it with those whom you're supposedly working with first eh? :)

You'll also find that no matter what you do, or how you do it, you cannot please ~everyone~ all of the time. Game on man, I look forward to seeing you in game.

The widows? Like, are we talking about black widow spiders or like, women who've had their husbands killed?

I should go read the IC forums.
EDIT:

Just read the post. Doesn't seem too bad but I think as a player you have to watch for the line between creative writing and cheesing and/or metagaming.

I've written some IC stories. Some have been taken right from whats happened in the game/events and others have been completly fabricated, mostly just involving myself and some baaaaaaad guy being pwned :)

Theres a difference between comming up with a story about your wizard fighting whatever and describing the battle and saying your character is in charge of people/armies or whatever (something drastic) that simply isn't there or hasn't been approved by the DM.

In that instance I think the best bet is for your character to role play lying about whatever. It's perfectly IC to lie and make up retarded stories. People can then choose to believe you or not. (I actually find people never take into considerationt hat a character just might be lying when they tell you something, IC)

Making something up and trying to pass it off as truth OOC is a different story. Not saying thats what your doing or anything but the possibility is there. I think i've had my hand slapped for that too before.

I'd say as a rule 99% of characters practically have to make up their backrounds, some people have simple ones and some people pull out all the stops.

As much as I hate asking permission, i think it's better most of the time to ask the staffs permission if you can run with an idea you have. (And hopefuly the staff get back to you promptly even if the answer is no)

That way you dont make a character, get to level 5 or 6, have some fantastic story line that you made up only to have the DMs say NO WAY, then said player takes a shit fit because of 'all the work' they put into it. (As we've seen all too often in the past)
