Hala Character Portraits

Post by Druid523 »

I have a request to make of the Hala players. If any of your PCs are using custom portraits, could you reply to this post with a link to download your particular portrait. To quote Zombie:

Anyway, here's a link to the portrait files I use for Scel. Enjoy!

Scel's Portrait

P.S., I'm not really sure of any good places to share files, such as .zip files. Thus, I'm using my old Geocities account. There is a limit to how much traffic each account can have, so if the link doesn't work, wait a bit and try again. If anyone can recommend a good file storage website, let me know.

Could anyone provide directions as to how to do this, for those of us with less than tasty computer skills? o.o

Bigupload.com was easy. They present you with a box to enter a few details and a browse button to find the file you want to upload. Once uploaded you can copy and paste some code to get a link for forums.

Only a few come to mind, but I'm sure there are others. I figure that anyone who uses a custom portrait is pretty much aware that it is a custom portrait (not one that came with the game, but one that was downloaded, either individually or as part of a package). Requesting someone's portrait via a list, though, isn't a bad idea.

Zombie did a good job explaining how to upload the files, but I suppose one question people might have is "which files do I upload exactly?".

1) Go to your Portraits folder. Mine is: C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\portraits

2) Find the portrait file that your character uses:

a] Download a program that can view .tga files, such as AhaView.
b] While trying to find your portrait, you'll probably notice that there are 5 copies of the same picture. That's because Neverwinter uses different sizes of the same picture in different instances, (you'll notice the portrait in the party member list is smaller than the one in the upper right corner next to your health bar, which is smaller than the one that is shown when you open your Character Sheet, etc.). So each file has 5 different sizes: H-Huge, L-Large, and so on.

3) Once you've found your character's portrait, you'll need to share (with us) all 5 files mentioned above. So, if your portrait is called "ma_Ro99", you'll need to upload "ma_Ro99H.tga", "ma_Ro99L.tga", "ma_Ro99m.tga", "ma_Ro99s.tga", and "ma_Ro99t.tga".

a]It'd probably be best to share them as a .zip file, as Morgan and I did. Rather than typing out instructions, ('cause I'm lazy), go here.
b]Seriously, though, if you need further explanation, just let me know (PM me or some such).

4) Go to Bigupload.com, (I decided not to hyperlink it just to be mean), and follows their instructions.

5) Post a reply here and share the link with us!

Can you see the portraits of either K'Lari or Delewiel? I made them way before the CEP, but both their portraits were added to it.. probably under a different name though.

Oh man... that's too much work for me. :P I think I only read up to your "...download a program..." part Druid before I scrolled down to click the reply button.

Eh I'll just let everyone use their imagination for Jessamine's appearance, unless you've already got a lot of custom portraits installed, I downloaded the links to files of portraits avlis.org had.

I had already made a character on a different world and used one of the common portraits.... I was curious if there was any way I could somehow change it?

thanx

While not a perfect solution, the following link might help. It's not in our Wiki (yet, haha), so Avlis' will have to do:
