Account Invalid

Post by nwmtrigger »

When I log into Ysgard or Hala with my main Character from Avlis, I get a message saying "Your account is Invalid, The DMs have been notified of this login attempt" or something very close to that.

I had problems with logging into Avlis a short while back and my character was restored on that side.

I have no trouble logging in with my other, Hala based, character.

And i have no trouble logging in to Avlis.

Thanks in advance for your help.

My GSid is: SonOfSlaanesh
Character name is: Eleanor

Have you tried portalling over again? It fixes a multitude of issues.

I am fairly certain on what the problem is, as there are 2 others who are experiencing the same problem, but finding how to fully remedy this has been an issue thusfar with the one I have been working on.

The problem with all of these characters is that the characters names, in your case Eleanor was also the name of another players character some time ago, and there are numerous database entires and other things which are causing issue with yours. So therefore when the later created characters like yours tries to come in it says hey, that's not the right information we have about this character, somethings not right.

So it's a matter of loicating each and every instance of these other characters, and hoping that they aren't still active characters.

If it is the case that they are still active then I really don't mind rebuildig my character with another name, am I right in thinking that even a space added at the beginning of the name would be sufficient?

The character in question with conflict of yours has not been on for 2 years so that wouldn't be needed.

But since you did somewhat ask another question I will address this here now. Since the character that you are actively trying to play is a Avlis native character the rebuild woiuld have to come from their side, as it affects a number of things in their DB, such as crafting skills etc, but yes you are correct that a simple space or something else would work. Anyways, once I get conformation from another character with this issue that they are fixed I will fix you and let you know.

One thing we did on Greyhawk was rewrite a bit of Avlis' code so that we used a Player Character Identification Numbering system in the DB so duplicate names would never be a problem. I wasn't the one that changed the code for our system so I can't tell you off the top of my head what to change, but if you're interested I can likely get the code to you.
