When I read today's "word of the day" I had a sudden vision of Alexis tossing his hair back, eyes ablaze, shoulders squared in that defiant pose he does, and eloquently using this word as an additional implied insult to some ignorant brute of a bully!

Belated thanks for these; I love them! Had never heard of the first one, and was going to say that the second was one we borrowed from the French, but Moony beat me to it. And yes, VERY Lexy.

This reminds me: Fecund means fertile or productive, and Dad tells the story of the time he told a co-worker who had come up with an idea: "That sounds like the product of a fecund mind", and the guy thought he was being insulted and got really belligerent.

Learned another fun one today:

plenipotentiary \plen-uh-puh-TEN-shee-air-ee; -shuh-ree\, adjective:
