The lamb!

I'll try and take pix and post them tomorrow. His name is Fenn, and he's a ram lamb at the moment, but he won't be for long; he's getting neutered soon. He's been hand-raised because his mom wouldn't nurse him, so we have to bottle-feed him. He's a breed of sheep called a "Soay", which is a primitive breed that sheds and doesn't need to be sheared, and is small and hardy. He's a lovely chocolate-brown with tan trim, and he's about 2 1/2 weeks old. He really does look a lot like a baby deer, but without the spots. We're working on training him not to butt people; so far he's been very good, and being neutered will help with that a lot, too. Right now he is living in the house and tasting everything he sees, so we have a lot of lamb-proofing to do, but soon he'll be old enough to live outside and join the Guinea fowl in our no-pesticides yard management scheme.

Trust me, if we had to feed him caterpillars in the same way Yana did, we wouldn't have a lamb!

actually,how do we know the lamb doesn't polymorph into rudiki?(and of course,intrepid girl reporter lois lane will notice they are never photographed together!)
...no,frieda,we aren't polymorphing ANYTHING into a lamb!(sigh!)

If Rudiki had been on the ball with the digital camera today there could have been a photo captioned, "Akai fights Nettle with help of animal companion." (The animal companion wasn't all that much help, though he did get a few bites in to show willing.) Since I'm here to tell the story, it appears that I won, although in West Virginia as in Ysgard, Nettle always comes back.

Plus, plenty more nettles left to fight tomorrow...

Hope I'm getting XP for this!
